Tesla Powerwall 2 Battery Storage System

Solahart Newcastle is a Certified Installer of Tesla Powerwall 2 battery storage systems.

We can install this battery storage system for any residential or commercial application, integrating into a new or existing set up.

Up to 13.5kWh of power via lithium ion battery storage

Tesla took the energy storage world by surprise with the release of the first generation Powerwall almost 6 years ago. First generation home battery storage systems were bulky, expensive to install and expensive to maintain. In contrast, a Tesla Powerwall 2 lithium ion battery storage system inherits Tesla’s proven automotive battery technology to power your home and/or business safely and economically – plus it now has a built in inverter as well.

It enables you to maximise self-consumption of solar power generation by replacing electricity from the grid with stored energy from your solar system after the sun goes down. It is easy to install, completely automated and requires no maintenance.

What is a Tesla Powerwall 2?

A Tesla Powerwall is a battery that stores energy, detects outages and automatically becomes your home’s energy source if the local power grid was to fail. Instead of using a generator you can use a Powerwall without the noise or hassle. When you combine it with a compatible solar power set up you can recharge the Powerwall using sunlight to keep your home running efficiently.

How does a Tesla Powerwall work?

Solahart Newcastle can install a Tesla Powerwall to integrate into a new or existing set up.

For a residential application it can use your home’s solar panels to store excess energy and make it available when you and your family need it.

This effectively minimises your reliance on expensive, grid sourced power and saves money.

Is the Tesla app easy to use?

One of the things Tesla provides with its battery storage product is a simple to use system to control and check on your energy reserves.

With the Tesla app you can monitor your home’s energy production and consumption in real time.

Set your preferences to optimise for energy independence, outage protection or savings.

With instant alerts and remote access, you can control your system from anywhere in the world.

The only liquid cooled battery storage system

Tesla Powerwall is the only battery system on the market to incorporate a liquid thermal management system which enables it to operate in a wide range of temperatures from -20 to +50°C.

Although, like most lithium battery systems it is likely to derate or reduce its output at temperatures above 40°C. Power derating is common for most lithium-ion based batteries, but Tesla’s liquid cooling enables the Powerwall to expel more heat under high loads and during rapid charging which should result in a longer life span and better performance at higher temperatures.

How much is a Tesla Powerwall?

The price in Australia of a Tesla Powerwall will really depend on your specific application and how simple or complex the installation requirements will be. So for example installing it with a new solar panel system on a flat, level block with plenty of space will be different to trying to install it on a cliff top property in the hinterland with limited access.

You may also need to integrate it into an existing system or require multiple units to satisfy your energy consumption requirements.

Either way our team can assist you to determine the price for a Tesla Powerwall 2 installation.

Tesla Powerwall installation and setup

Solahart can install a Tesla Powerwall into your home or business and ensure it is set up correctly. Our qualified installation team is available to install your selected Tesla Powerwall model in Newcastle, Port Stephens, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Hunter Valley and Charlestown whether you live in a single storey or larger home.

The installation team we have are fully equipped with the right tools and knowledge to make sure your Tesla Powerwall is installed professionally and ready to operate so you can begin storing energy on your property.

Solahart Newcastle can provide a quotation for the supply and installation of a battery storage system together with solar panels and hot water systems as our team can create a package that suits your application or requirements.

Tesla Powerwall with Solar Panel Installations

If your property doesn’t have solar panels the Solahart Newcastle team can help you select the Powerwall product for your requirements plus the solar panels that can be used with it. This creates a solution to draw solar energy from the sun and have it stored in your Powerwall system from Tesla. We are accredited Tesla Powerwall installers and also have many years of experience working with solar panel installations in Australia.

Powerwall for off grid or solar battery back up

If you are considering setting up your property to have off grid capabilities then the Powerwall can be used as part of your energy solution.

We can help you work out how many solar panels and the capacity you will require to generate sufficient energy needed & then what can compliment this in terms of battery storage capacity.

This combination will mean you can generate electricity from the sun and also store any excess for later use. Depending on your usage requirements this can create a completely off grid solution for your power needs.

The Powerwall can also be used as a solar battery back up solution in the case of a power outage where you draw power from the batteries rather than the grid. Depending on the appliances being used in your property this could be for a few hours or days.

The price of Tesla Powerwall batteries has changed numerous times recently, and as such we request you get in touch for the current pricing.

We will assess your situation and provide a fully installed price.

The Tesla Powerwall 2 is one of the most advanced battery storage systems available and has been designed by a company that specialises in battery technology. They have designed the product from the ground up with a single purpose of making it easy for homes or businesses to have battery storage options.

It may be possible to go off grid with a Tesla Powerwall depending on the overall energy capacity that is set up vs your average energy consumptions. Solahart Newcastle can help you determine your off-grid power consumption requirements to advise the best combination to suit you.

A Tesla Powerwall has a 10 year warranty and is also water or dust resistant with an IP67 rating.

A Tesla Powerwall can run all household appliances but how long it is able to do this for will depend on the energy consumption requirements for the items themselves. Our team can provide an assessment and advice on what may suit your needs.

The number of solar panels isn’t as important compared to what quality and efficiency those panels have. For example in one scenario a property might have 10 panels and another might have 2 but their energy storage capabilities are similar because they are using different quality panels. Learn more about solar here.

A Tesla Powerwall can reduce your reliance on grid power by storing energy that you can use when your solar system might not be drawing power, especially at night time or during a black out. Depending on the storage capacity of your system you may be self sufficient and not require grid power at all, thus saving money.

The length of time a Powerwall can power a home will depend on its capacity, state of charge and what energy resources are being drawn on within the property.

A Tesla Powerwall 2 has a 10 year warranty and will continue to remain operational well beyond this period.

Yes, you can adjust the settings in the Tesla App to charge your Powerwall 2 from the grid.

You can install a Tesla Powerwall 2 outside, either wall or floor mounted and it has a weather resistant design with IP67 rating for water and dust resistance.

A Tesla Powerwall must be installed by a licenced battery installer. At Solahart Newcastle, we will only use our licenced battery installers for a Powerwall 2 installation.

The only parts of Powerwall 2 that produce noise are its pump and a small fan that is part of its cooling system which is about <50Db, it’s comparative to bird calls or a quiet conversation.

Yes however there may be certain design restrictions based on your current system. Get in touch and we’ll arrange a free on-site assessment as the next step.

Yes. Solahart Newcastle can supply you with a Battery Ready PV system which enables a Tesla Powerwall to be installed at a later date.

A Powerwall can be charged using AC power from the grid or a generator. If you don’t have a solar panel system a Powerwall can be used for load shifting or backup power. Although to maximise your savings we’d recommend recharging your battery storage system using solar power.

Yes, Powerwall 2 is ideal for storing surplus solar energy to use at a later time so that you reduce your reliance on grid power.

Yes, as long as you’ve paired your Powerwall with a Tesla approved inverter with back up functionality, and have designed your system to be off-grid capable. This may include the installation of additional components in your switchboard but we can help advise you on what is required.

While Powerwall has the functionality to allow users to operate totally off-grid, it depends entirely on how your individual system is configured. Our team can assess your energy usage and provide recommendations to make this possible.

While Powerwall permits this, it will depend on whether your local electricity retailer allows you to export stored energy back to the grid.

A Powerwall 2 battery storage system will let you stack multiple units.

Yes, a Tesla Powerwall 2 has backup capability in the event of a blackout.
